Practice Management focuses on running an architecture firm including managing the business, marketing, securing projects, working with clients, and sustaining a positive and professional work environment.

Roles at JLG comprise of Developing New Architects (DNA) Peer Group Leader, Branch or Market Leader, Talent Management, and Chief Executive Officer.


Project Management focuses on delivering projects that meet the contract requirements which include defining budget and coordination of project deliverables.

Roles at JLG comprise of Project Manager, Cost Estimator, and Production Leader/Manager.


Programming & Analysis focuses on pre-design and utilizes skills in researching and evaluating client requirements, building code and zoning regulations, and site data to develop recommendations on the feasibility of a project.

Roles at JLG comprise of Job Captain, Practice Studio member, Planner, Specifications Writer, Proposal Writer, Practice Studio Leader.


Project Planning & Design focuses on schematic design phase to lay out building designs, review building codes and regulations, coordinate schematics with consultants, and communicate design concepts with the client.

Roles at JLG comprise of Job Captain, Design Leader, and Planner.


Project Development & Documentation focuses on projects in design development after the design has been approved, preparing construction documents to execute design intent, and coordinate necessary approvals with regulatory authorities.

Roles at JLG comprise of Project Support, Job Captain, Visualization Specialist, and Production Leader.


Construction & Evaluation focuses on the construction administration and post-construction phases of a project. This includes job site visits, meeting with contractors, clients, consultants, and completing punch lists.

Roles at JLG comprise of Project Support, Job Captain, QA/QC Specialist, and Construction Services Specialist.

Get introduced to our Developing New Architects Peer Group (DNA)

JLGdna is a peer-organized professional development program committed to developing new architects. JLGdna is intended for new graduates and project support staff to gain the necessary knowledge to complete AXP, pass the A.R.E.'s, and gain experience to become competent Job Captains capable of running a job thoroughly. Together, we will create an environment that is engaging, exciting, and rich with mentorship.


FUN FACT The National Average time to complete AXP and obtain licensure is approximately 6.5 years. The JLG EMPLOYEE average to complete AXP and obtain licensure is 3.7 years.

I chose to work at JLG because I had the idea that it was a community and design focused Architecture firm. I found out the JLG culture was even more integrated than expected! I found out that this wonderful architecture firm was about learning, design, and giving their employees opportunities. Every person and personality that works here is what makes this design culture so engaging. JLG for me stuck out above the rest of firms due to its student outreach. I was curious what the firm was like, and chose to apply. Even though I had other opportunities elsewhere JLG’s culture was an influence in my decision. I appreciate that JLG allows me to develop my skills and asks what my interests are. Because of this I am working in Architectural Visualizations and researching Virtual reality applications in the field of architecture. Everyday there is a new problem to solve, and JLG has given me the tools and support that helps find the solution.
